Espresso in the Morning

Espresso in the Morning book mockup

Unable to tolerate the quiet of home, Claire Murphy rushes her son, Grey, out of the house every morning to grab her espresso before dropping him at school. On returning from shuttling Grey to soccer, wall climbing, or taekwondo, she cranks acid rock and blasts the TV.

Exhausted, Grey longs for quiet breakfasts at home. To ensure this, he recruits the help of Lucas Williams, owner of The Coffee Stop. Grey is excited to have Lucas help him with his mother’s birthday surprise. When he learns Lucas is the “fix it” guy, though, he’ll stop at nothing to include Lucas in their lives. If anyone can fix his mom, it’s Lucas.

Getting involved with a kid and his troubled mother wasn’t on Lucas’ agenda. He can’t deny Claire is an attractive woman, but the way she startles, keeps to herself and remains hypervigilant reminds him of his best friend, Toby. Lucas had only come to understand PTSD after they’d lost Toby. He’d failed Toby and the last thing he wants is to fail Claire, but when Grey offers his small hand to make the secret pact, how is Lucas to refuse?

Late Night Lattes blank cover

Self-sufficient Sr. Graphics Designer, Gabriella Brooks, loves using mood boards, sketches and visits to show rooms for her interior designs. When her studio implements a new AI-driven design program she tries unsuccessfully to work around her dyslexia, which she’s hidden since early childhood. Fearful her coworkers will discover her secret and think her a fraud, she turns to brilliant MBA student, Ramsey Carter, for help with the new technology. Will Ramsey be able to assist, though, without knowing about her dyslexia? And more importantly, will she be able to keep her care-free lifestyle and resist his charms while working with him?

Juggling his MBA studies with his full-time position as assistant manager at The Coffee Stop, and caring for his mother, who suffers with debilitating depression, Ramsey’s schedule is packed. When a big chain coffee shop opens nearby and siphons business, he suggests extending the shop’s hours to capitalize on profits, though he warns he won’t be able to lead the project. When shop co-owner, Louisa Platt, offers best friend Gabriella’s help in the redesign to convert The Coffee Stop into a nighttime venue, as well as a daytime hangout, he’s admittedly tempted to take the lead on the shop’s makeover. In exchange for Gabby’s help, all he has to do is teach her to use her new software program. He’s met the enticing interior designer and can’t deny the mutual spark, but with his full agenda, he shouldn’t be tempted to explore anything beyond their working relationship. What could go wrong?
